World of Warcraft - item upgrading (pop over here)

Item upgrading allows players to increase the gear score of an item to 700 and also add an additional perk. Items can be upgraded if they're in your inventory and you decide to take them to the kiln.

Certain items can be upgraded to increase their stats (like a perfectly rolled breakpoint armour used in melee PvP) while other items, such as weapons do not change significantly after an upgrade, and therefore aren't worth upgrading.

Weapons

Weapons can be upgraded to increase their numeric stats, such as crit chance, attack damage as well as PvE and damage to PvP. They also have a flat bonus which increases the damage they deal per second. In addition some weapons come with a set bonus which is activated when three or more of the same weapon is present on a single unit. In some instances, this bonus could amount to more than the amount of damage that a weapon upgrades on its own.

The cost of upgrading a weapon is based on the rarity of the weapon and its current level. For instance the weapon with a +2 rating will require two regular Smithing Stones to upgrade items while the +3 model requires four. The number of stones required to upgrade a weapon will increase until it requires more Smithing Stones. At that point it will reset to one.

Upgrades to weapons will also reroll the stats of the base. While this is generally an excellent thing however, it could have negative consequences too. For items that are only used in a certain build (Whistant's shield for FB Sorcs, for example), upgrading them may make them unusable unless you happen to have an extremely lucky roll.

Armor items can be upgraded to boost their stats. In the case of chests or helms this will increase the defense of its base, while gloves and belts improve their required strength and dexterity. Armor also offers the option of rerolling its Enhanced Defense percentage, which means that it may reroll to a lower value.

The upgrade template for a weapon shows the new stats it will gain when upgraded in addition to their respective values. This means that a change from an 8 attack-damage sword to an 11-attack-damage sword will result in a weapon receiving 33% attack damage. The 3% doesn't mean that the weapon will be hit 3 times less, as it is an absolute number.

A weapon can also be rerolled using the green button that has circular arrows within the item menu. This will roll an item and alter its stats, but it will not reset the weapon's levels, or connect it to an account's status.

Armor

Adding a few upgrades to your armor can make huge differences in your ability to endure. Certain sets offer massive boosts to poison, curse, fire and magic resistance, which can make it easier to navigate through tough terrain. In general, the greater defense you can offer your character, the greater health you'll gain from each point. So, it's best to upgrade your armor.

To improve your armor, head to one of the Great Fairy Fountains in the game. There are four Great Fairy Fountains available in the game, and to unlock each one you must complete an additional quest that involves the Stable Trotters. After you've completed the main quest, and the corresponding fountains, you can talk to any Great Fairy in order to unlock the menu for upgrading armor.

The amount of material needed to upgrade item each piece of armor is different. In general, you'll need at anything from three to ten Red Chuchu Jellies and 10 Rupees for the initial upgrade, and then anywhere from five Rubies and ten Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns for each subsequent upgrade. For example the Champion Leathers could be upgraded to +5 defense, which allows you to keep up with a large group of enemies in the majority of cold conditions and the Snowquill Headdress can be upgraded up to +20 defense, giving the protection needed to survive a full on raid with a few friends.

Note that armor can't be upgraded the same way as weapons, so you'll have to work on upgrading it to gain physical strength if you're a Warrior or Spell Power when you're a Mage. You should also save your armor upgrades to upgrade the armor that you'll still be wearing by the end of the story, such as the Ring of Lightning, Spectral Shield or the mask you wear in the final boss fight The Monter Parts Merchant Mask.

You can also unlock some benefits to your armor by giving the jeweler in Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. In general, you should save these upgrades for the weapon you'll be using to win the game, like the Longsword, Battleaxe or Warhammer however, it could be beneficial to have a few improvements to the chest armor and helmets to permit you to sneak past some monsters.

Potions

Potions are liquids that when consumed by a player, provide an immediate effect. There are five kinds of potions, each with different effects and durations. Certain potions can be upgraded to enhance their level of effectiveness. You can also increase the effects of certain potions by adding redstone dust and glowstone dust.

Upgrades to potion require a certain amount XP. This can be obtained by crafting them on a craft table or by storing them in the Alchemist chest. The upgrade price varies depending on the type of potion and the item upgrader kit's Rarity and Mark Level.

To upgrade a potion to the next level, right-click on it in your inventory and select the "Upgrade" option from the menu. This will open a GUI that allows you to select the potion you want to upgrade and the amount of experience they'll give you when upgraded. Upgrades to potions can be made in batches of up to five at a time, and the XP that they generate will be added to your current XP total.

Once a potion is upgraded, it will not degrade until you re-use it, or break the bottle it is stored in. Clicking on the potion in your inventory will also allow you to change its name.

Version 1.7.2 introduced a few changes to the way potions are used. For example splash potions now have the duration of 0:08 (this is not the same as 22.5 seconds that are displayed on the hover display for the item). The table for potion is now crafted from four Wood Planks, and two Glass. This allows it to be utilized by players in Survival and Bedrock. Bedrock Edition potions aren't compatible with cauldrons, as is the case with Java Edition. Similarly, using a potion in a cauldron that is full drains the liquid and refills the bottle.

In addition, there are simmering potions that are made with dragon breath and splash potions. Redstone is also added to potions that are lingering to increase their effects. The table of potions is rearranged to look more like the Java Edition. New potions have also been added, such as the potion of leaping and decomposition.

Trinkets

A trinket is a small, inexpensive ornament or piece of jewelry. It may also refer to an object or ornament that serves a purpose, but is not particularly significant, such as a tiny thimble. In certain cultures, a trinket is used to signify affection or friendship, specifically between family members.

Players can upgrade trinkets in addition to weapons or armor, as well as potions. Upgrades can be obtained by paying the appropriate currency to an upgrade vendor. As with other upgrades to items trinkets are able to be traded out at any time without losing their status.

Upgrade vendors are located at the capitals of every zone, and sometimes in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are purchased using tokens, gold or fragments of rare trinkets.

Upgrades are a cost-effective alternative to buying a new trinket. A player can upgrade a trinket with as little as 12 tokens. The new trinket will have the same base ilvl as older one, and include an additional upgrade bonus of 1.

When the old Trinkets are not usable, they can be upgraded. This allows a player to increase both their power and value over time. They can be traded between players, making them an alternative to gold.

In general players should upgrade their top-priority items first. This means that the top-in slot items for each class are upgraded first then their secondary gear, and then other equipment that they won't be replacing anytime soon (such as rings or cloaks). When deciding on which items to upgrade players must also consider the class's preferred stats. If Haste and Crit are two of the most important stats for a tank player then they should consider upgrading their chest, helm, and shoulders.

After they've become unusable trinkets are able to be upgraded to a greater level. The new trinket comes with an additional bonus of 1. A re-upgrade, however, can cause damage to the trinket unless it can be saved using a Black Lion Salvage Kit, or a higher tier salvage tool. Upgrades to trinkets can be more expensive than other upgrades, but still cheaper than buying new ones.
