Are You Getting The Most You Item Upgrade
WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades will give you a an increase in specific statistics. Each upgrade increases item level by 3. Each upgrade also boosts the random substatus.
The upgraded gear typically has a higher trade value, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or very high stat variation (like eth titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as valuable for those with higher variance due to the requirement to roll an exact version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. However, the item that is used for the upgrade will remain in use for a long time and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enhancements.
You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader every couple of weeks to keep your equipment up to date.
The cost of upgrading will depend on the current level of the item being upgraded however, they will always be cheaper than buying new equipment from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase weapons, armor, tools and accessory upgrades. They are purchased by players from item upgrader - information from Technetbloggers, NPCs in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor using an button, which will display an image of the item level upgrade at the next upgrade level in the event that the player has enough materials.
The cost of upgrades varies based on the item slot and current item level, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers for example. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Some upgrades give a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain level and is degraded, it can be sold and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currency types.
Item upgraders can be found in many places including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade coupon and the chance to obtain an entirely new recipe. The discount on upgrades increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players finish certain achievements or quests.
Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no item upgrader available at the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are available only via a variety of ways. This is both a benefit as well as an issue.
In Season 3, the upgrade system was altered a bit, with some new features added. After a player has earned an upgrade to a specific item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level will cost less, even if they are part of another set of gear.
The discount is available to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is reduced as well, but is only available once certain milestones have been reached.
Crests
When upgrading gear in WoW players have a couple of options. They can use Flightstones, which are a general upgrade currency available to all players, or crests that are more specific and used to upgrade specific item upgrader mod levels. Crests are a crucial component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.
First, you must be aware that crests are only available for equipment with a certain rank. Each rank has distinct upgrade paths. The most basic and straightforward upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the most complicated requires as many as 20 crests depending on the type of equipment that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through finishing content at the appropriate level, which means walking around and doing outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons of all difficulty for items of higher tier or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses to obtain endgame gear. The crests can then be exchanged with an item upgrader, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and routes.
The new currency system isn't complicated to use, but it does bring some modifications to the upgrade process. When a piece of equipment attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it will no longer require Flightstones. This change lets players upgrade their gear to the highest possible ilvl on all of their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.
Another significant change is that crests have one use, so it's important to use them wisely. It's Best item upgrader to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the highest-quality gear you can locate, and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly true for items like trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character which can only be eligible to avail the account-wide discount when all of the slots are filled with top-quality gear.
