Valorstones

They can be purchased by players from NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be applied to any weapon or tool with a The button will show the preview of an item's next level of upgrade, in the event that there are enough materials.
Upgrade costs vary depending on the slot of the item and the current item level. For example, weapons will cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Certain upgrades provide discounts on Flightstones. Once an item upgrading has been upgraded to a certain degree it is able to be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of the two currencies.
Many locations offer item upgraders which include the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and the chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players finish certain achievements or quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an item level Upgrade upgrader at the start, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. Instead the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades must be acquired through a variety of means that are both an improvement but also a drawback.
In Season 3, many new features were added to the upgrade system. When a player has an upgrade to a particular level for an item in an armor slot, upgrading further items to that same item level will cost less even if they are part of another set of gear.

Crests
When upgrading gear in WoW, players have a few choices. Flightstones are an item that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more special and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an integral component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.
First, you should know that crests are only available for equipment that is of a certain rank. Each rank has an upgrade path that is different. The simplest and easiest upgrade is 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade requires up to 20 crests, contingent on the kind of equipment being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by completing content at the appropriate level. This could be by engaging in outdoor activities or doing dungeons or raids in all difficulty levels to obtain lower-level gear or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons with a heroic difficulty for endgame gear. Crests can be exchanged at an upgrader NPC like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.
The new currency system isn't complicated to use, however it brings some modifications to the upgrade process. When a piece attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it no longer requires Flightstones. This change is intended to allow players to upgrade their equipment to the highest ilvl possible for all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.
Another significant change is that crests have one use therefore it's essential to use them properly. It is Best item upgrade to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the top-quality equipment you can locate, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly applicable to rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character, which will only be able to take advantage of the account-wide discount if all of the slots are filled with high-quality gear.
