WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a an increase in certain statistics. Each upgrade increases item level by +3. Each upgrade also boosts the random substatus.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless the item has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. However, the item that is used for the upgrade will remain in use for a long time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in all major cities, and is accessible anytime to upgrade your gear. It is recommended to visit the upgrader at least once every few weeks to keep your equipment up-to-date.

The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current item level of the gear being upgraded but they will always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment from other sources. For instance, upgrading a Benthic chest piece to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points while buying a similar item from a different player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade weapons, armor, tools, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased from NPCs of item upgraders for various currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor with a button, which displays a preview of the Item Level Upgrade at the next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.

The cost of upgrading varies based on the slot for the item and the current item upgrader kit level. For example weapons are more expensive than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Certain upgrades provide a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain level it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.

Item upgraders can be found at many locations including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases depending on the amount of items that are being upgraded. It is also possible to be boosted by having players complete specific achievements or complete quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the start, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are only accessible through a variety of methods. This is both a positive and a drawback.

In Season 3 the upgrade system has been tweaked a bit, with numerous new features added. Once an upgrade has been completed to a certain level of item for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level will cost less. This is true regardless of whether the items come from another set of equipment.

The discount is available to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players have reached certain achievement milestones.

Crests

Players have several options when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specific, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.

The first thing to note is that crests are only able to be spent on gear of a specific rank, and each rank has its own requirements for upgrading. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade requires up to 20 crests, based on the type of gear being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through finishing tasks at the appropriate level. This could mean engaging in outdoor activities or completing dungeons and raids in all difficulties to get equipment of lower tier or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons that have a high difficulty to obtain endgame gear. Crests can be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.

The use of these currencies isn't too complicated, but the system introduces some modifications to the upgrade process. For example, once an item is at the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This is to allow players to get their gear up to the highest level possible on all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.

It's also crucial to choose crests wisely, as they have only one purpose. It's Best item upgrade to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the top-quality equipment that you can find and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is particularly applicable to rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character which will only be able to take advantage of the discount for all accounts when all slots are filled with high-quality gear.
