WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades can give you boosts in certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. A random additional substat is also added to each upgrade.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless the item has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like the eth Titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the need to roll to get a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. The item used to upgrade the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in all major cities, and can be visited anytime to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader every few weeks to keep your equipment up to date.

The cost of upgrading will be based on the current item upgrader mod level of the gear being upgraded but they will always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest up to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are functional items that can be used to level up weapons and tools, armor and other items. They can be purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners for a variety of currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be applied to any weapon or tool using a button, which will display an image of the item at its next upgrade level in the event that the player has enough materials.

Upgrade costs vary depending on the Item level Upgrade slot, and the current level of the item. For example weapons are more expensive than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades offer a discount on the Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain degree and is degraded, it can be sold and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currency types.

Item upgraders can be found in a variety of locations on the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount and a chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases depending on the amount of items that are being upgraded, and can be boosted by having players complete specific achievements or complete quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the beginning unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are only available through a variety of methods. This is both a positive and a disadvantage.

In Season 3, several new features have been added to the upgrade system. After a player has upgraded to a certain level of item for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level, will cost less. This is true even if those items come from another set of equipment.

The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is affixed to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is reduced also, but is only available once certain milestones are achieved.

Crests

When it comes to upgrading gear in WoW players have a few options. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more special and are utilized during specific item upgrading level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1, and come in 4 ranks.

The first thing to remember is that crests are only able to be used on equipment that is of a particular rank, and that each rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and simplest upgrade items costs 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade requires up to 20 crests, contingent on the type or equipment being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through completing content at the appropriate level. This could be by engaging in outdoor activities or completing dungeons and raids in any difficulty to earn lower-tier gear or Mythic+ raid bosses or dungeons with heroic difficulty for endgame gear. The crests can then be exchanged with an item upgrader, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and pathways.

The use of these currencies isn't too complicated, but the system does introduce some modifications to the upgrade process. When a piece reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it no longer requires Flightstones. This is to allow players to upgrade their equipment up to the highest level possible on all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.

Another important change is that crests have one usage and it's crucial to make use of them in a responsible manner. For instance it's a good idea to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the best equipment available and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you're planning on making. This is especially true for items such as trinkets and rings that take up multiple slots. The discount on the account will only apply when all slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
